OUR PROCESS
If you have never remodeled before, it can seem overwhelming at first. But don’t feel alone, because most people haven’t remodeled either. Relax. You’re in good hands! We want to minimize stress and maximize results and make the remodeling process as easy as possible for you. Our goal is to work together to bring your vision to life.
The process starts with an email or phone call to schedule a site visit with the company owner, Bob DeLong. Bob will spend as much time with you as you need during the site visit. He’ll check out your space, learn about your goals, hear your ideas, answer questions, and provide options. We want to find out what works for you and what doesn’t to understand the picture in your head of what you want your home to be.
Next, you’ll receive a detailed estimate covering all elements of the project, and then once you sign the contract, the ball gets rolling. You’ll receive a comprehensive information packet to help with your shopping, product selections, tips for getting ready, and the overall remodeling process.
Depending on the scope of work, it may be necessary for us to bring in an engineer if you’re planning to remove walls, or possibly an architect if you’re planning an attic conversion. We assist with your county permits and the HOA variance. When all your product selections are in hand, we will coordinate the start date with you. Keep your eye on the finish line, and before you know it, your home will have a brand new look... your house will be a home!

Serving Fairlington
DeLong Remodeling has a special focus on the community of Fairlington, a neighborhood of 3400 residences in Arlington, Virginia. Built as wartime rental housing for Defense Department employees in the 1940s it was purchased by a Developer in the 1970s remodeled and sold as Condominium Apartments and Townhouses.
Company owners Bob and Anne DeLong are original Fairlington homeowners with a townhouse purchased in 1977. After remodeling that home in 2005 they quickly found that friends and neighbors were also ready to say goodbye to the 1970s with its popcorn ceilings and harvest gold
everything.
Bob quickly became known for his beautiful kitchens and was a leader in bringing “open concept” to Fairlington for improved day-to-day living and easy entertaining. Bob’s top-to-bottom whole-house remodels have been marketed as the “Newest House in Fairlington,” with several hundred visitors coming to the Open Houses to see Bob’s work.
To date, DeLong Remodeling has completed nearly 1000 remodeling projects in all townhouse and apartment models in the seven Fairlington neighborhoods. Eighteen of their remodeled homes have been featured on the popular
Fairlington Home & Garden Tour, held every two years.
